gus&mimi was launched in january 2013 by two friends with a passion for baked goods and really good ice cream.
mpho, a foodie from soweto who lived in jamaica where her days were spent baking delicious cake, cooking and eating the best ice cream on the island.
and dumi, an independent film producer who lived and studied in boston, massachusetts before moving back to joburg.
boston is undoubtedly one of the ice cream capitals of the world, so ice cream was one of the first things dumi missed when he came home… like really good ice cream.
fast forward to 2015. mpho and dumi started experimenting with blending their love of sweet things — her love of baked cakes and his love of ice cream — and together they dreamt about the perfect dessert and ice cream bar.
